Dispensing systems for the clean and precise application of lubricants

There are over 200 regular greasing and oiling applications involved in the production of a vehicle. Depending on the model, this can also be a lot higher. These applications ensure smooth operation, reduced friction, durability and noise prevention. Greasing and oiling applications play a similar role in furniture production. The application of lubricant on door hinges or drawer runners enables the doors and drawers to be opened and closed smoothly. 

The requirements for each of these applications are different, and many factors need to be taken into account in the system design. Should the application be carried out in dot, bead or spray form? In what timeframe should the application be carried out? How is the metering system integrated into the production line? Key factors such as material properties or temperature play an important role in system design. There are special greases that are only used in wet environments, for example, and others that were specially developed for extreme temperatures. The valve and material should be perfectly coordinated. 

The system concept generally comprises three main components: material feed, metering and dispensing valves, and process monitoring systems. DOPAG developed the lubriLine product line specially for the application of lubricants. All components can be used in a modular way and combined to form an individual system concept. Different drum and barrel pumps, pressure tanks and a transfer pump are available for the material feed. Depending on the requirement, there can be different system designs, such as a multi-part metering unit with a dispensing valve or a system with a metering valve. Various measuring devices can be added to ensure reliable process monitoring and reproducibility, such as a light barrier, a gear flow rate measuring cell or a pressure sensor. In this way, the system concept also be optimally integrated into fully automated production lines.

In DOPAG’s competence centre in Cham (Switzerland), experts are constantly working on the further development of metering components and pumps. During the project phase, DOPAG customers receive comprehensive consultation, from feasibility studies, initial design and tests in their own technical centre to on-site commissioning. The end result is reliable, precise metering systems that meet all the requirements for automated production processes with their high quality standards.
